Program Content: Spanish for Paramedics and EMTs contains more than 650 Spanish commands, questions, statements, and phrases, and is divided into two components:
The first component of the program is entitled Initial Care and Stabilization, and it prepares EMS personnel to use Spanish to: render immediate emergency aid; engage in triage protocol; make physical assessment of patient; issue controlling phrases and commands; obtain pertinent information; calm victims and their families; determine patient’s chief complaint; explain treatment performed by EMS; and facilitate transport of injured.
The second component of the program is entitled Expanded Care, and it prepares EMS personnel to treat chest pain and cardiac arrest, respiratory problems, unconscious patients, diabetic emergencies, seizures, allergies, poison emergencies, suicide attempts, hypothermia, bites and stings, sexual assault, trauma, bleeding, shock, musculoskeletal injuries, and injuries to the head and spine.
Bonus: The program also includes Spanish/English Bilingual Charts for All Parts of the Exterior Body, and a Spanish/English Medical Glossary and Allergens Glossary.
